the religious issues can hardly be handled properly, in a limited movie that is mainly meant to emphasize the relevance of woman-woman relation. Intimate scenes by the ladies are well filmed and not overdone. But Sheetal Seth as Leyla is much more impressive.

The more famed Lisa Ray as Tala is definitely gorgeous. But love, as everybody agrees, is much more than sex. The importance of social and religious values have to be respected. The issue of course may not be so simple. In fact the society now encourages it and praises it. The present day society does not look with cynicism the capable couples who choose adaption to procreation. Isn't physical contact between a male and a female about mutual satisfaction and procreation. It compels the viewers to think what after all is so very wrong with lesbianism, what is so unpardonable in companionship and romantic relation between two grown up ladies. of many movies made on the theme of lesbianism, this stands out as one of the best. The World Unseen transports us to a vibrant, colourful world, a world that divides white from black and women from men, but one that might just allow an unexpected love to survive. When Amina helps Miriam’s sister-in-law to hide from the police, a chain of events is set in motion that changes both women forever. When she meets Miriam, a young wife and mother, their unexpected attraction pushes Miriam to question the rules that bind her. In 1950’s South Africa, free-spirited Amina has broken all the rules of her own conventional Indian community, and the new apartheid-led government, by running a cafe with Jacob her “coloured” business partner. The actresses have collaborated with the award-winning author for another motion picture, an adaptation of Shamim's novel I Can't Think Straight. The film featured Sheetal Sheth and Lisa Ray as the protagonists.

The movie with the same title made its debut before, more specifically in 2007 at the Toronto International Film Festival, and its script was actually used in order to add the final touches to the novel. The World Unseen is a 2008 novel written by Shamim Sarif.
